Thomas Barlow

Thomas WH Barlow is Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group. An acclaimed practitioner, Tom has represented management in connection with virtually all aspects of workplace law – from “traditional labor Law”, involving unions, to defense of civil rights claims, to wage and hour matters,  to employee contracts with noncompete provisions and trade secret protection.   

Tom’s extensive experience also spans a wide range of industries including manufacturing, distribution, transportation and service entities such as hospitals and financial institutions. Fundamentally Tom has dedicated his career to assisting employers in coping with challenges and/or attacks by employees or governmental entities. As every employer knows, compliance planning is an essential aspect of modern business life, with federal, state, and local governments all seeking to regulate the workplace. Tom is adept at steering employers through this matrix. 

Many years of experience have given rise to numerous accolades including “preeminent” status by Martindale Hubbell, as well as similar rankings by Leading Lawyers, dBusiness magazine, and Super Lawyers. 

Tom received his law degree from Duke University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University following attendance at Michigan State University. He is admitted to practice in both Michigan and New York.
